Quick & Easy Fried Eggs: Sunny Side Up or Over Easy

Welcome to WESTERN COOKING IN PLAIN ENGLISH VIDEOS! In this video I've shown how to cook fried eggs either sunny side up or over easy as easily, quickly and safely as possible using only the following ingredients and pieces of equipment:

Ingredients :

1-2 Eggs per person (no cooking or flavor difference between brown and white eggs)
Butter or Margarine
Salt & Pepper (optional)

Equipment :

10 - 12 Inch Frying Pan with Top
Small Bowl - if you're not comfortable cracking eggs directly into a pan (makes removing broken egg shell pieces easier as mentioned in step 1)
Spatula
Table Knife

1. Put the pan on the stove and turn on the heat to MEDIUM-LOW. Skip to step 2 if you are comfortable breaking eggS directly into a pan. Otherwise, break the egg(s) into a bowl. Remove any broken shell pieces from the bowl using a bigger piece of egg shell - the two shell pieces will attract each other.

2. Test the pan for the proper cooking temperature by wetting your fingers with cold tap water and flicking the water onto the pan surface pan. The water should sizzle and evaporate.

3. Add just enough butter or margarine to coat the pan evenly and either crack the egg(s) directly or pour them into the pan from the bowl as mentioned in step 1. Cover the pan with the pan top.

4. For "Sunny Side Up Eggs" skip to step 5. For "Over Easy" eggs, cook until the bottom of the eggs just start to brown and the egg whites are mostly cooked through. Then use the spatula to turn the eggs carefully yolk side down and cover again with the pan top.

5. Cook both "Sunny Side Up" and "Over Easy Eggs" until the egg white is full cooked through and the yolk is cooked to desired doneness (wet, semi-wet or solidly cooked through).

6. Serve warm as is or topped with salt and/or ground black pepper to taste.
