Microwave Cooked Pork or Turkey Bacon

Welcome to WESTERN COOKING IN PLAIN ENGLISH VIDEOS! In this video I've shown how to make pork or turkey bacon whether you like it chewy or crispy as easily, quickly and safely as possible using only the following ingredients and pieces of equipment:

Ingredients :

Pork or Turkey Bacon

Equipment :

Microwave Oven
Microwave Safe Large Plate
Paper Towels
Pot Holders

Note :

There are 3 good reasons to cook bacon in the microwave oven:
1. Less cooking time.
2. Less fat (and no splatter) - the paper towel soaks fat incredibly efficiently.
3. Less clean up - fat soaked paper towel goes in the trash. No pan to cool, wipe clean with a paper towel and then later clean with soap and warm water.

1. For pork bacon, use 4 sheets of paper towel folded into 2 sections of 2 paper pieces each. For turkey bacon, use 2 sheets of paper towel.

2. Lay half the paper towel on a microwave safe large plate. Place up to 4 slices of either pork or turkey bacon on the section of paper towel on the plate. Then cover the bacon with the other half section of paper towel.

3. Cook the bacon in the microwave oven using HI heat as follows. NOTE: Cooking times listed are for 4 pieces of bacon. Use less time if you're cooking fewer than 4 bacon pieces at a time.

  Chewy Crispy
Pork Bacon 3 - 3 1/2 minutes 4 - 4 1/2 minutes
Turkey Bacon 2 1/2 - 3 minutes 3 1/2 - 4 minutes

4. Use a potholder if necessary to remove the bacon from the microwave oven when the cooking time has elapsed and check for doneness as follows.

  Chewy Crispy
Pork Bacon Done when meat is browned and fat is opaque but bacon is still pliable. Done when meat is browned and fat is mostly cooked away and bacon breaks when it is bent.
Turkey Bacon Done when meat is browned throughout and bacon is still pliable. Done when meat is browned and bacon breaks when it is bent.

5. To clean up, let the plate sit until it is cool to the touch. Then wipe it quickly with the paper towel used to cook the bacon and clean the plate either in the dishwasher or thoroughly by hand using warm water and dish soap.
