ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Introduced to stamp collecting by his 8th grade mathematics teacher, Richard Sine has been an avid collector ever since. In 1976, he took over as editor of The American Philatelist, journal of the American Philatelic Society. During his time in that position, through 1985, he authored two correspondence courses on philately for the Pennsylvania State University (one of which was named the outstanding non-credit course of the year in national competition) and spend nearly a year as stamp columnist for The New York Times.

Sine became executive editor at Novus Debut in 1994, responsible for the Minkus albums and other philatelic projects. While maintaining an active career as a technical writer and editor, he developed (and continues to maintain) the non-commercial philatelic reference website AskPhil.org, -- under the sponsorship of the Collectors Club of Chicago, authored the reference CD-ROM Encyclopedia of U.S. Postage Stamps, and wrote Stamp Collecting for Dummies.
